Supporting Nannies, Strengthening the Industry: The National Nanny Association UK

Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting with Allie who runs ‘The Nanny Connection’. We had a fantastic chat about the nanny industry, our shared experiences, what it’s like to be new to the industry, and the importance of professional support for nannies. Allie has just launched The National Nanny Association—an initiative that has the potential to make a real difference in our sector.

Why a Nanny Association Matters

The nanny profession is unique. Unlike other childcare settings, such as nurseries or schools, nannies often work in isolation, without a built-in support network. While there are many experienced, skilled, and dedicated nannies out there, access to professional development, resources, and advocacy has historically been limited.

This is where The National Nanny Association comes in. Designed to bring nannies together, the association aims to provide support, training, and a sense of community—empowering nannies to excel in their roles while advocating for industry standards.

What The National Nanny Association Offers

Allie’s vision for the association includes:

  • Professional Development: Resources and training opportunities to help nannies continue learning and growing in their careers.

  • Community & Networking: A space for nannies to connect, share experiences, and offer each other support.

  • Industry Standards & Advocacy: Promoting best practices within the nanny profession and ensuring that nannies receive the respect and recognition they deserve.

  • Support for Families: Educating families on fair employment practices and the value of professional nannies.

Why This Initiative Is Important

As an agency owner, my mission is always to advocate for the nannies I represent as I’ve seen first-hand how much nannies give to the families they work with. They are educators, caregivers, role models, and often become an integral part of a child’s life. Yet, unlike many other professions, nannies do not always have the same level of industry-wide representation.

An association like this is a step towards changing that—ensuring that nannies feel valued, supported, and equipped with the tools they need to thrive.

Get Involved

If you’re a nanny looking for a professional community or a family wanting to learn more about fair employment practices, I highly recommend checking out The National Nanny Association. You can find more details on their website: The National Nanny Association.

A huge congratulations to Allie for launching this initiative—I can’t wait to see how it grows and supports the nanny community!
